Multimedia maker, Sarah Khurshid Khan’s recent creations derive from Persian, Indian and Arab manuscripts from Central India, Shiraz and the Arab worlds. Via prints and porcelain, Khan creates an unbound world where forgotten femmes blossom amidst stylized flora and rich culinary knowledge traditions. Inspired by manuscript research, Khan engages in a type of visual critical fabulation. She centers her culture’s multifold artistic practices to imagine and then inscribe dismissed narratives into a more inclusive global culture. With Faiz Ahmed Faiz and Langston Hughes’ poems in mind, Khan speaks, sings and shouts I, too, sing America and the world.
